The opening month has now been confirmed for Zoco, which will be the second F&B outlet to open at The Atrium in Al Habtoor City.

The new Mexican and Latin American restaurant is now expected to open in September 2016.

The restaurant and lounge will be located on the second floor of The Atrium.

Heading up the kitchen at Zoco is chef Jimmy Rojas. Rojas has over 29 years of experience in culinary, and has worked under world-renowned chefs Alain Ducasse, in Paris, and Oscar Calleja, in Spain.

Describing his own cooking style, Rojas said: “I like to respect the product and enhance its natural flavour while playing with different textures and flavours, using a variety of culinary techniques to create harmony in each dish.”

Also making up the team at Zoco is former Versace Palazzo bar manager Sergio Luca, who worked at Quique Dacosta’s recent Enigma pop-up. Leading the front of house team at the restaurant is former Asia de Cuba, Abu Dhabi restaurant manager Kenneth Ooi.

Design at the venue has been described in a statement, as featuring “vibrant colours and accent walls with classic finishes and reused industrial elements”.

The venue will also offer a soundtrack from resident and guest DJs, playing chillout tracks, and Latin music.
