Although people who scuba dive, have the most freedom and ability to explore the oceans and seas of the world, snorkelling is an easier and safer alternative to see the beauty that the underwater life has to offer.
Here is a list of our favourite snorkelling destinations in the world.
1. Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
The Galapagos are considered one of the world’s best destinations to see wildlife. It is a province of Ecuador, and is isolated in order to protect its animal species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world.
2. Palawan, Philippines
This underappreciated travel destination has stunning islands and amazing views under water. Just an hour and a half away from Manilla, this stunning island is surrounded by ship wrecks and coral that is definitely worth seeing.
3. Great Barrier Reef, Australia
The reef is one of Australia’s most stunning natural gifts. It is the world’s largest coral reef and houses an abundance of marine life and is made up of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays.
4. The Coral Triangle
Don’t limit yourself to a specific country and venture to the Coral Triangle. It is an area located in the western side of the Pacific Ocean. The triangle spans across many borders including the waters of Indonesia, Malaysia, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea.
It’s called the Coral Triangle, because this area has over 600 different types of reef corals alone! There’s also an immense amount of marine life.
5. Isla Holbox, Mexico
Holbox Island is located just north of Cancun. It is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a shallow lagoon which is home to hundreds of exotic birds and creatures. Snorkelling there is a definite treat, as the waters are full of marine life and beautiful corals.
